Entry and activities are free, with a small charge for the BBQ run by Marlborough Scout Group.

Fruit and vegetables are part of a healthy, balanced diet and can help us stay healthy and therefore It’s important that we eat enough of them.
Evidence shows there are significant health benefits to getting at least five 80g portions of a variety of fruit and vegetables every day.
The 5 A Day campaign is based on advice from the World Health Organisation, which recommends eating a minimum of 400g of fruit and vegetables a day to lower the risk of serious health problems, such as heart disease, stroke and some cancers.
Five reasons to eat five portions of fruit and veg
- Fruit and vegetables are a good source of vitamins and minerals, including vitamin C and potassium.
- They’re an excellent source of dietary fibre, which can help to maintain a healthy gut and prevent constipation and other digestion problems. A diet high in fibre can also reduce your risk of bowel cancer.
- They can help to reduce your risk of heart disease, stroke and some cancers.
- Fruit and vegetables contribute to a healthy, balanced diet.
- Fruit and vegetables taste delicious and there’s so much variety to choose from.
What is classed as a portion?
The term portion is a very vague term, however the minimum recommended adult in take is 5 lots of 80g or a single piece of fruit.
Children should also eat at least five portions of a variety of fruit and vegetables a day. The amount of food a child needs varies with age, body size and levels of physical activity. As a rough guide, one portion is the amount they can fit in the palm of their hand.
Innov8 Sportz CIC and JB Youth Services are pleased to announce a fantastic new project for 2018. A touring Youth Club will bring activities to young people once a month in their own community, so they have the chance to engage with experienced staff, socialise, develop new skills and take on personal challenges.
This creative initiative, supported by Marlborough Area Board and the Local Youth Network, allows the many young people living in villages across the wider Marlborough community to access exciting activities, offered by experienced and well qualified providers, on their own doorsteps. Young people from school years 7-11 will have the opportunity to participate in sports sessions, drumming, cooking, graffiti art and much more over the six-month pilot.
The pilot will take place in the villages of Baydon, Lockeridge, Ogbourne St George and Ramsbury, and the sessions will also be open to those from the near hamlets and villages. Details of the full programme of sessions are coming soon and will be advertised throughout the communities and via a dedicated Facebook page – https://www.facebook.com/MobileYouthClub/
The project will culminate in an activity day to take place centrally in Marlborough, bringing together everyone involved throughout the pilot – watch this space for more info!
Innov8 Sportz CIC and JB Youth Services are appealing to the community to get involved to make this a great success! Local volunteers are especially important to support the longer-term aims of the project. Volunteers will be DBS checked and fully supported, so please get in touch with your local parish council if you think you can help.
Happy Spuds, created by four local children who want to reach out to others who feel anxious or stressed, are very excited to be running their first sessions in Wiltshire!!
Thurs 28 Sept – Pewsey Vale School Hall – Activity to be decided and Happy Spuds would love to hear what your children would like! 4.30 – 5.30pm. £5
Tues 3 Oct – Woodborough School Hall – Art for Anxiety. A great way to gently let children talk, share and listen to each other’s worries. 4.30 – 5.30pm. £7
Thurs 5 Oct – Rushall Village Hall – Sunshine Yoga. A fun, relaxing story with yoga, designed to teach self supporting techniques and allow children the chance to relax and switch off from any anxieties amongst like minded, sensitive children. 4.15 -5.15pm. £6
All events are for children only, as Happy Spuds want them to feel totally free to talk about anything at all. The Helpers are very well qualified and experienced in working with children’s emotional needs.
